Dirt cups are a classic, but for Halloween, we’re giving it a spooky twist. Whether you’re making this for a party, a school event, or just a Halloween treat to enjoy with family, these dirt cups will be the highlight of your spooky spread! So, even if you’re short on time, you can still whip up a treat that will wow your guests.
Kid-Friendly and Easy Halloween Treat

One of the best things about this Halloween Dirt Cup is how kid-friendly and simple it is to make. If you’ve got little ones who love getting involved in the kitchen, this is the perfect recipe for them! It doesn’t require any baking, and the steps are easy to follow, so kids can help crush the cookies, layer the pudding, and decorate with gummy worms. Plus, it’s a treat that’s customizable—whether they prefer more pudding, extra worms, or a different topping, they can make it their own.

Another great thing about Halloween Dirt Cups is that they’re ideal for lunchboxes! You can pack them in small containers, and they’re perfect for a Halloween-themed school snack or a fun after-school treat. The kids will love opening up their lunchbox and finding a spooky, delicious surprise waiting for them. Unlike my previous Halloween treats, which were aesthetically pleasing and cute Frankenstein Rice Krispies, this Halloween dirt cup is so much easier.

Because it’s a no-bake dessert, it’s also stress-free for busy parents. You can prepare them in advance, store them in the fridge, and simply grab them when you’re ready to serve. So, whether it’s for a party or packed in a lunchbox, these dirt cups are sure to be a hit!
Why You’ll Love These Halloween Dirt Cups

- Quick to prep. These fab-boo-lous dessert cups are the easiest no-bake treat to make for Halloween. The Oreo mousse is quick to prepare, and then it’s a matter of chilling your cups in the fridge for an hour or so before serving.
- Chocolatey and delicious. Rich and creamy chocolate Oreo mousse layered with Oreo crumbs takes these graveyard dirt cups over the top. It takes just a few simple ingredients to make and the fudgy flavors are always a hit. Honestly, this is one of my favorite desserts to make!
- Fun to customize. Once your dirt cups are assembled, there’s no right or wrong way to decorate them. I top mine with cookie “tombstones”, gummy worms, and candy eyes, but really, the sky (or, in this case, the grave?) is the limit.
- Individual Portions– Individual portions of this dessert make it perfect for Halloween parties and sharing, or to bring in for a classroom treat when allowed.

So, to summarize, Halloween Dirt Cups are a fun and easy dessert that brings together all the creepy elements of Halloween into one delicious treat. Whether you’re making them for a Halloween party or just as a spooky treat for the family, these dirt cups are sure to be a hit. With layers of creamy chocolate pudding, crushed Oreos, and gummy worms, they’re the perfect balance of spooky and sweet.
So grab your ingredients, get your spooky decorations ready, and treat your guests to a Halloween dessert they’ll never forget. Dirt never tasted so good!
Ingredients of Halloween Dirt Cups

- Chocolate Instant Pudding Mix: This is the base for the creamy chocolate layer in the dirt cup. It’s quick and easy to prepare with cold milk, providing a rich and decadent texture. You’ll need one package of instant chocolate pudding mix, plus milk to prepare it with.
- Cold Milk: Used to prepare the chocolate instant pudding mix. Cold milk helps the pudding set quickly and gives it a smooth, creamy texture. If you want a richer pudding, you can substitute half-and-half or whole milk. – I always prefer using whole milk for recipes like these where you want the pudding to be nice and thick!
- Heavy Cream: This is used for making the whipped cream layer that sits on top of the dirt cup, providing a luxurious texture and a nice contrast to the crunchy cookies.
- Chocolate Cookies Crumbs: These crushed chocolate cookies are the “dirt” in the dirt cup. They add a rich, chocolaty crunch that contrasts perfectly with the creamy pudding. Oreos or any chocolate sandwich cookie will work here, and you can even use graham cracker crumbs for a different twist.
- Lady Finger Biscuits: These are a fun addition to the dirt cup, adding extra texture and acting as a “grave marker” or base for the pudding layers. Lady fingers are light and airy, but you could substitute them with any other light sponge or even store-bought cookies if needed. Don’t forget to add RIP words on it
- Gummy Worms: The classic Halloween topping! These little gummy worms make it look like your dirt cup is a mini Halloween graveyard, and they add a fun chewy texture. It’s not dirt pudding without a gummy worm lingering in the dirt! They’re essential for graveyard dirt cups.
- Eye-shaped Candy: These add a creepy effect to the dirt cup, making it the perfect Halloween treat. For a creepy twist, add some edible candy eyes on top to give your dirt cup a fun and eerie look
Let’s Make Halloween Dirt Cups

First, prepare the pudding:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the chocolate instant pudding mix and cold milk. Continue whisking until smooth, and let it set for a few minutes until it thickens into a pudding-like texture.

Next, whip the cream:
In another bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Once the pudding has thickened, gently fold the whipped cream into the pudding, creating a smooth, creamy mixture.

Assemble the dirt cups:
Begin layering your dirt cups by adding a layer of chocolate pudding to the bottom of each cup. Then, sprinkle a generous layer of crushed chocolate cookies over the pudding to create the “dirt” layer. Repeat the process until your cups are filled, finishing with a layer of cookie crumbs on top to make it look like dirt.

Decorate the cups

Once your dirt cups are assembled, decorate the tops with ladyfinger biscuits (acting as gravestones), gummy worms, and eye-shaped candy for a spooky effect. You can place the gummy worms so they look like they’re crawling out of the dirt.
Serve and enjoy

Refrigerate the dirt cups for about 30 minutes to allow the layers to set. Once chilled, they’re ready to serve! These creepy, delicious dirt cups will be the perfect Halloween treat
