It’s a great reminder that you can create something truly extraordinary with simple and easy-to-find ingredients, how creative, right?

Also, for me, chestnuts and winter go hand in hand, evoking a sense of warmth and coziness. There’s something about the deep, earthy flavor of roasted chestnuts that pairs perfectly with the cold, crisp air of winter.

Ingredients of Chestnut Tiramisu

- Chestnut; The star of the dish, chestnuts provide a creamy, nutty flavor and a rich, smooth texture. They are boiled and blended to form the base puree for the tiramisu layers.
- Whole Milk; Combined with the chestnuts to create the puree, milk softens the chestnuts and enhances their natural sweetness while achieving a silky texture.
- Heavy Cream / Whipping Cream; I use to whip and fold into the chestnut mixture, adding lightness and creaminess, making the dessert fluffy and luxurious. Chill the cream before whipping to achieve stiff peaks faster.
- Granulated sugar; Balances the natural nuttiness of the chestnuts with a subtle sweetness. Adjust the amount to suit your taste, especially if your chestnuts are pre-sweetened.
- Cream Cheese; Adds a tangy depth to the chestnut layer and helps mimic the smooth texture of mascarpone used in traditional tiramisu.
- Instant coffee; Used to soak the oat biscuits, the coffee adds a bitter contrast to the sweetness of the chestnut mixture, creating a balanced flavor profile.
- Oat biscuits; These serve as the base and structural layers of the tiramisu. Their subtle flavor complements the chestnut and coffee.
- Chocolate for garnish; I use chocolate powder, Grated chocolate or chocolate shavings provide a decorative and flavorful topping that adds richness to the dessert. I think Dark chocolate works best as it contrasts nicely with the sweetness of the layers.
How to Make Chestnut Tiramisu

Begin by preparing the chestnuts. Pour the milk into a saucepan and add the chestnuts. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat slightly and let it cook for about 10 minutes, or until the milk has reduced by half of the composition.

Meanwhile, as the chestnuts and milk are cooking, whip the cream and sugar together in a separate bowl until stiff peaks form. Once ready, set it aside for later use.

Then, blend the chestnut mixture when the chestnuts and milk are cooked and reduced, whisk the mixture until it becomes smooth and creamy. Allow it to cool slightly.
Now, mix the smooth chestnut mixture and insert the cream cheese until well combined. Then, gently fold in the whipped cream to create a light and airy consistency. Transfer this mixture into a piping bag for easy layering.

To prepare the biscuits and coffee, start by brewing the coffee and let it cool slightly. Dip the oat biscuits briefly into the coffee, ensuring they are soaked but not overly soft, and arrange them in a serving dish to form the base layer.

Then, pipe a layer of the chestnut cream mixture over the biscuits. Follow with another layer of coffee-soaked biscuits. Continue layering, alternating between the cream and biscuits, until you achieve four layers in total.

For the final step, sprinkle grated chocolate generously over the top layer. Optionally, place a whole chestnut in the center as a decorative touch.
For the best flavor, refrigerate the tiramisu for a few hours to allow the layers to meld together. Alternatively, You can always serve immediately for a fresher taste.

This dessert is suitable for eating at a picnic with friends or gathering with family.

Description of This Cake
This delightful cake is made with simple and readily available ingredients like whipping cream, eggs, fresh strawberries, vanilla extract, and more.
The way to make it is simple. Make chiffon by mixing several ingredients for the dough and then baking until cooked. In a different bowl, make the cream. The cream must be stored in the refrigerator before use. Lastly, arrange the cream and strawberries as filling and garnish.

Using chiffon cake as a substitute for regular bread, the soft and light texture is the main attraction. Chiffon bread has a neutral taste with a hint of vanilla, which makes it pair well with the sweet and fresh taste of the filling. Whipped cream serves as the main filling layer which gives extra softness to every bite. Meanwhile, strawberries provide a touch of refreshing sweet and sour taste and are the main star of this dessert. Besides that, the bright strawberry-red color creates an attractive appearance.
Tips for Making This Cake
Here are some tips for making this cake so that the results are perfect and delicious.
Use High-Quality Ingredients
Make sure the ingredients used in the chiffon cake and cream are fresh and high quality, especially strawberries which must be ripe and fresh. Strawberries that are still hard or underripe can affect the taste and texture of the Sando. Use low-protein wheat flour or cake flour for chiffon cake so that the texture is lighter and softer.
Cook Chiffon Cake Carefully
Separate the egg yolks and whites carefully. Make sure that no egg yolks are mixed with the egg whites when beating, as this affects the stability of the meringue.
Make sure to beat the egg whites until stiff and foamy, but don’t overmix so they don’t break. Use a mixer on medium to high speed for best results.
When mixing the chiffon cake dough, use the folding technique to keep the dough airy and light and doesn’t lose volume. Avoid mixing the dough quickly as this can make the cake dense.

Bake at the Right Temperature
Bake this cake in a preheated oven at 170–180°C. Do not open the oven door during the baking process to avoid the cake being crushed. After the baking process, do not immediately remove this cake from the pan. Let the cake cool in the pan or upside down so that the texture keeps light and doesn’t fall.
Perfect Whipped Cream
Make sure the whipped cream is cold. Cold cream expands more easily and produces a smooth texture. Use enough sugar to keep the cream taste light and not too sweet. For a richer taste, you can add a little vanilla extract. If the whipped cream is not used immediately, store it in the refrigerator to prevent it from melting or settling.
Proper Strawberry Slices
Slice the strawberries to a uniform thickness to create an attractive appearance. Strawberries that are too thick or thin can create an uneven arrangement.

The Texture of Strawberry Cream Chiffon Sando
Below is a description of the texture.
Light and Soft
Chiffon cake is the basis of Strawberry Cream Chiffon Sando. The texture is very light, soft, and breathable. Once you bite into it, it feels very light and crumbles easily in your mouth. This cake has a softness that is slightly chewy but still smooth, thanks to the use of oil and egg separation. Parts of the cake will melt slowly in your mouth, giving a soft sensation.
Creamy
The cream in this cake has a very soft and creamy texture but is not too heavy. The cream provides softness to each layer and blends perfectly with the cake. Even though it’s creamy, this whipped cream doesn’t taste greasy thanks to proper whipping and the use of fresh, quality ingredients.
Juicy and Chewy
The fresh strawberry pieces in this cake give a very refreshing juicy sensation. Well-ripe strawberries are soft and slightly chewy when bitten, but still have a balance of sweet and tart.

Another Variant of This Cake
Here are other variants of this cake that you can try to make it.
Mangos
Use fresh mango cut into small cubes instead of strawberries. Mango offers a richer sweeter and tropical taste with a slightly sour undertone, providing a richer and more exotic taste experience. The bright orange color of the mango will give an interesting contrast to the white cream and chiffon cake.
Matcha
Add matcha powder to the chiffon cake batter or mix it into whipped cream. Matcha provides a more herbaceous and slightly bitter taste, which will pair well with the sweet cream and soft chiffon cake, creating a more complex taste. The cake will have a beautiful natural green color, giving a touch of elegance to the dessert.

Hazelnuts
Use hazelnut cream to add a nutty flavor to the cream. Hazelnuts give a rich, slightly sweet nutty flavor, which pairs perfectly with a light, fluffy chiffon cake. The hazelnut cream gives a richer touch to the look, with a creamier color and a hint of nuttiness.

The cake will have a beautiful natural green color, giving a touch of elegance to the dessert.

Mochi Donuts
Mochi Donuts are a snack that combines the chewy texture of Japanese rice cakes (mochi) with the shape and style of American donuts. This type of donut is known for its unique texture. The outside is dry but the inside is chewy and slightly sticky, similar to mochi. Unlike traditional donuts made from ordinary wheat flour, mochi donuts use sticky rice flour. That’s what gives the chewy sensation. Because of this unique texture, mochi donuts have become very popular in various countries.
You must already know the mochi snack. You must also know about donut snacks. But did you know about mochi and donuts combined? This time we will discuss this unique snack. Yes, this unique snack is Mochi Donuts. You can make this snack at home without going to a dessert shop. To make the snack requires 15 minutes of preparation time, while the cooking time is an hour. The ingredients are readily available in supermarkets. Serving this is suitable as a snack and can also be a business idea.

Overview of Ingredients and How to Make This Snack
The main ingredients used to make mochi donuts are sticky rice flour, milk, sugar, baking powder, and several other ingredients. For a more attractive appearance, you can use various kinds of glaze on top of the mochi donuts when serving.
Here are the general steps for making this snack. The first step is making the dough by mixing several ingredients until it forms a soft and springy dough. Then, make the dough into small balls. Fry the mixture in hot oil. The last step is serving and adding a glaze topping.

Tips for Cooking This Snack
You need to pay attention to several tips to make the dough perfect both in texture and taste. The following are some tips that can help you to make this snack.
Choose High-Quality Glutinous Rice Flour
Glutinous rice flour is the main ingredient in this snack dough, which gives it its distinctive softness and chewiness. Make sure the sticky rice flour you use is not mixed with other flour because this can affect the final result.
Add Sweeteners Wisely
This snack usually has a sweet taste from sugar. Make sure you don’t use too much sweetener, as it will make it too sweet and affect the consistency of the dough.

The Dough Should Be Thick and Slightly Sticky
If the dough is too runny, the donuts will not have the desired chewy texture. On the other hand, if the dough is too dense, the result can be tough. If the dough is too sticky, you can add a little sticky rice flour, but not too much so that the texture is still soft.
When Cooking
Don’t Overcrowd the Oil When Frying
To get good results, don’t add too much batter to the oil at once. Frying too much at once will lower the temperature of the oil, which can cause the batter to absorb excess oil. Fry in small batches for crispier, evenly cooked results.
Wait for the Oil to Cool Before Frying the Next Batch
After frying one batch, let the oil cool slightly before adding the next batch. Oil that is too hot can cause the dough to quickly burn on the outside, while the inside is not fully cooked.

When Serving This Snack
Let Donuts Cool Before Serving
After frying, let these snacks cool for a moment before serving, especially if you are adding toppings or glazes. This helps prevent the topping from melting and keeps the texture of this snack chewy.
Experiment with Shapes and Sizes
Shape this snack creatively! You can use a special donut mold to make the perfect ring shape or try shaping it by hand into a ball or other shape. Don’t be afraid to experiment with shapes because the result will still be delicious.

Mochi Donuts Texture
Mochi Donuts have a unique and very distinctive texture, different from traditional donuts or other cakes. Here are some of the main characteristics of the texture of this snack.
Chewy and Soft
Chewy is the main characteristic of the texture of this snack. Unlike ordinary donuts which tend to be soft or light, this snack gives a chewy sensation that you feel when you bite into it. Because of the use of sticky rice flour which contains starch which forms a chewy texture when making it. The chewy sensation makes this snack feel denser, but still soft on the inside. This provides a unique and more satisfying eating experience, especially for fans of foods with chewy textures.

Additional Toppings and Glazing
Toppings or glazes added after frying, such as powdered sugar, chocolate, or even matcha, do not significantly affect the base texture of these snacks, but add additional texture to the outside, providing a layer of flavor and softness on the surface.
Other Variants
